Amid a growing government investigation involving at least two state agencies, Greenleaf Cos. and a sister company vigorously defend their business practices as “legal, above board and acceptable.”
Greenleaf and the Real Estate Co. issued a statement Wednesday responding to a search of their Campbell Avenue offices Tuesday by warrant-wielding investigators from Attorney General Jay Nixon’s office.
Greenleaf is a local company that enticed investors from across the country to buy homes in southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas and then set up contract-for-deed agreements with buyers who could not afford conventional loans.
