(Bloomberg) — Japan’s Nikkei 225 Stock Average rose 167.52, or 1.6 percent, to 10,996.37 at the close in Tokyo. The following were among the most active shares in the Japanese market today. Stock symbols are in parentheses after company names.
Alps Electric Co. (6770 JT) jumped 6.2 percent to 633 yen, its highest close since Sept. 10. The auto electronics maker was boosted to “buy” from “underperform” by Masashi Kubota, an analyst at Merrill Lynch & Co.
Arisawa Manufacturing Co. (5208 JT) gained 3.4 percent to 648 yen. The industrial-materials processor said it decided to pay a yearend dividend of 8 yen.
Certo Corp. (3354 JQ) soared 11 percent to 1,545 yen, the sharpest increase since its listing in December 2004. Aeon Delight Co. (9787 JT), a building-maintenance company, will buy Certo, which sells business supplies to companies, in an equity swap. Aeon Delight will pay 1.3 shares for each Certo share, according to a statement to the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Aeon Delight declined 1.3 percent to 1,259 yen.
