Real estate conference at MiraCosta College

(SIGN ON SAN DIEGO) - MiraCosta College will host a series of talks Wednesday morning on the state’s real estate market and the importance of community colleges in helping to drive economic recovery.

“Report to the Region” is scheduled from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the MiraCosta College Theater, 1 Barnard Drive, Oceanside. The keynote speaker will be Richard Green, director of the Lusk Center for Real Estate at the University of Southern California. His talk, “Some Facts About California and its Real Estate Markets: Is There Reason for Hope?” will include insights on when and how the state will see improvements in the housing market.

Francisco Rodriguez, president of MiraCosta College, will speak about the role community colleges can play in economic recovery. Brad Byrom, a history professor, will present the talk: “The Golden Dream: A Snapshot of Historical Trends in California Real Estate.”

Poway program needs water-saving coaches

POWAY: Volunteers are being sought for a new program to promote water conservation awareness throughout Poway.

The Water Action Volunteer Program will initially be made up of five to 10 residents who, after attending educational meetings hosted by the city’s water conservation division, will be given opportunities to assist at community outreach events and classes.

No previous experience in the water industry is required, and there are no hourly work requirements. Volunteers with specific professional skills, such as landscape contractor or architect, master gardener or plumber, may be asked to teach classes.
